HRSA’S RYAN WHITE HIV/AIDS PROGRAM RELEASES SECOND ANNUAL CLIENT-LEVEL DATA REPORT
December 8, 2016 • By Laura Cheever, MD, ScM, Associate Administrator, HIV/AIDS Bureau, Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
The Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) HIV/AIDS Bureau today published our second annual national Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) client-level data report. The data are collected through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Services Report (RSR). This dataset is the HIV/AIDS Bureau’s primary source of annual, client-level data collected from more than 2,000 funded grant recipients and subrecipients.
The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Annual Client-Level Data Report, 2015 features RSR data about clients served by the RWHAP during calendar years 2011 through 2015. The publication provides an in-depth look at demographics and socio-economic factors among clients served, such as age, race/ethnicity, transmission risk category, federal poverty level, health care coverage, and housing status. In addition, the report provides selected analyses to measure RWHAP’s progress toward achieving HIV health outcomes.
The 2015 report includes several changes from the previous year, which include:
- Reporting eligible scope, which allows for an enhanced understanding of the full volume of services received by clients of RWHAP recipients and subrecipients and better captures the impact of the program for clients receiving services.
- Adding data tables previously presented in the RWHAP Supplemental Client-Level Data Report: Eligible Metropolitan Areas and Transitional Grant Areas.
It is important to note that the report does not include information about the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) because all ADAP-related information is collected through a separate data system. Although data presented in this publication exclude ADAP client data, this does not imply the clients did not receive ADAP-related services.
The HIV/AIDS Bureau is committed to making our data available and usable for our recipients, subrecipients, partners, and stakeholders, and we hope it will meet the variety of needs of the HIV/AIDS Bureau’s partners across federal, state, and local agencies. In the coming months, the HIV/AIDS Bureau will release a set of consumer-friendly program resources to complement the annual data report, which include slide decks and population-specific fact sheets highlighting 2015 RSR data.
