Online Tool Provides Inventory of Measures for Use With All Payer Claims Database

A new online inventory from AHRQ provides access to more than 300 health care costs, utilization and quality measures. Based on a literature review and environmental scan, the sortable inventory is intended to augment the use of all-payer claims databases (APCDs), which are large State databases of medical, pharmacy and dental claims, as well as eligibility and provider files collected from private and public payers. The new inventory is intended to help researchers, State health officials, health system administrators and others identify measurement tools that can be used with APCD data for public reporting; identify key measurement gaps or barriers in advancing transparency efforts; and develop, standardize and refine future measures.
