This Week's News on HealthIT.gov

2012 Recap
Greetings on a frigid Friday in DC! We hope your week went smoothly.
We wanted to bring to your attention a new blog post that ONC Chief Farzad Mostashari penned highlighting our achievements last year.

If you take a few minutes to read the post, you will see the office has made real progress in a variety of areas of health IT. The gist is that we are using all the tools in our toolbox to meet our mission and mandate in the most transparent and open ways possible.

Dr. Mostashari explains, however, that we are far from our goals and is urging everyone to accelerate efforts to move toward interoperability and exchange.

Health Information Exchange Public Meeting
Your input is wanted and valued! Please consider attending the joint hearing of the Health Information Technology Policy and Standards committees next Tuesday. The committees are taking testimony about health information exchange. Check out the agenda and other details about the meeting in Washington, D.C. at the Health Information Exchange Public Hearing webpage.

Health IT Success Stories
We've posted new Health IT Success Stories highlighting EHR implementation and meaningful use experiences from providers around the country on HealthIT.gov.  You can find these stories and more lessons learned from providers and professionals under Case Studies & Data.
For more information and tools about EHR implementation and meaningful use, visit the EHR implementation lifecycle steps and check out the National Learning Consortium (NLC)

More from the Buzz-Blog
Wonks are welcome! ONC's top scientist continues his ongoing "curriculum" with a blog post that takes a deep dive into what we are doing to encourage international health IT standards, define HIT terms, standardize health-care summary documents and much more.

You can read the blog post from Doug Fridsma, or peruse his other recent postings about all things HIT, at www.healthit.gov/buzz-blog.
