Proactive risk assessment of surgical site infections in ambulatory surgery centers.

This study reports on the use of a prospective risk assessment tool to identify risks for surgical site infection in an ambulatory surgery center. A safety intervention was developed that specifically targeted the vulnerabilities identified by the risk assessment.
