New This Week on HealthIT.gov

We have lots of exciting news to share in preparation of the Seventh Annual HealthIT Week which begins Monday, Sept. 10 and runs through the week. During Health IT Week, ONC has developed a specific theme for each day. More information about ONC's activities is available at www.healthit.gov/healthitweek.

Also, take a look at the many resources now available at HealthIT.gov:
  • Consumer eHealth Program: Kicking off HealthIT Week is the 2012 Health Consumer Health IT Summit: Expanding Access to Health Information which begins Monday at 10 am EDT. At this year's Consumer Health IT Summit we are celebrating the progress the public and private sector have made in making health information more easily available to consumers and engaging them to use their data to improve their care and well being. The event will be Webcast at www.hhs.gov/live beginning at 10.

  • Visit resources from the National Learning Consortium: The National Learning Consortium (NLC), in partnership with HealthIT.gov, regularly publishes knowledge and resources from the field from ONC's grant programs to help providers and professionals throughout the EHR implementation lifecycle and to achieve meaningful use.

See the newly published guide, Providing Clinical Summaries to Patients after Each Office Visit: A Technical Guide, which can assist providers in meeting Stage 1 Meaningful Use requirements for clinical summaries. This guide focuses on how to develop a successful clinical summary workflow process (also referred to as the after-visit summary), and it includes common implementation issues and tips for success. To view other NLC resources, visit the EHR implementation lifecycle steps.

  • Federal Advisory Committees (FACAs): Meeting materials and a recording of the Health IT Policy Committee meeting held Thursday, Sept. 6, are now available at http://www.healthit.gov/policy-researchers-implementers/hit-policy-committee-1. Visit our FACAs page to stay abreast with FACAs meeting dates and news.
