Register for Free AHRQ Webinar on Implementing Shared Decision Making with Low Health Literacy Patients

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) will host a webinar December 9 to discuss how shared decision making can be effectively accomplished with patients who have limited health literacy skills.

Shared decision making occurs when a health care provider and a patient work together to make a health care decision that is best for the patient. Research shows shared decision making increases patient satisfaction with care, enhances patient understanding of treatment options, and increases involvement in decisions about care.

This webinar will address: (1) challenges in implementing shared decision making with patients who have limited health literacy; (2) adopting a user-centered framework to supporting shared decision making at the point of care; and (3) how decision aids can facilitate shared decision making among patients with limited health literacy.

This activity will be accredited for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, and certified health education specialists. Determination of continuing education credit through Professional Education Services Group is pending.
