Privacy Challenge Deadline Approaching Banner


Privacy Policy Snapshot Challenge Submissions Deadline is One Week AwayCalling designers, developers, and health data privacy experts! The deadline to submit ideas for thePrivacy Policy Snapshot Challenge is six days away! The challenge? Use the content from the MPN template and create an online tool that can generate a user-friendly snapshot of a product’s privacy practices. Submissions are due Monday, April 10, 2017 by 2:00pm ET.
Federal Health Architecture: HIMSS 2017 Learning SeriesThe Federal Health Architecture (FHA) is hosting the third HIMSS17 Learning Series and is highlighting some of the Government Interoperability Showcase demonstrations featured at HIMSS17. This learning series will cover three different demonstrations:
  • Electronic Case Reporting to New York City Public Health: A Proposed Solution using Structured Data Capture, ONC and New York City Department of Health
  • VHA Business Architecture Repository and How It Supports the Provision of Health Care for Our Nation’s Veterans, VHA
  • Consumer Access to Immunization Records: An Automated Interoperable Solution, ONC

Bright Spot: Using Health Information Exchange to Improve Newborn Hearing Screening  A program is expanding the use of the existing state clinical Health Information Exchange (cHIE) through the support of ONC’s Community Interoperability and Health Information Exchange ProgramThe cHIE is supporting the newborn early hearing detection and intervention screening program. This program hopes to reduce the percentage of infants who don’t get the necessary follow-up care while increasing the number who are enrolled in early intervention services. Read the Bright Spot.
Bright Spot: Expanding Behavioral Health Information Exchange for Providers  An electronic consent management system was developed in Michigan to facilitate the exchange of behavioral health data as part of ONC’s Community Interoperability and Health Information Exchange ProgramThe system improves care coordination by enabling local providers and community service organizations to access comprehensive clinical data about their clients, while clients can outline their preferences for how their health information is shared among their providers. Read the Bright Spot. 
2017 Interoperability in Action Day PresentationsThank you to everyone who took part in ONC's Inaugural Interoperability in Action Day! More than 50 presenters showcased health IT projects where interoperability is improving health care delivery to the over 650 attendees from both the private and public sectors. These participants included federal partners, state government representatives, health care providers, vendors and app developers. For those who were unable to attend or would like to view the presentations, the Interoperability in Action Day presentations and contact information for the presenters are now available.  

AHRQ: Request for Scientific Submissions on Telehealth for Acute and Chronic Care ConsultationsThe Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is seeking scientific information submissions from the public to inform their review on Telehealth for Acute and Chronic Care Consultations, which is currently being conducted by AHRQ’s Evidence-based Practice Centers (EPC) Program.  For more information on the review and to submit data go to the published notice in the Federal Register
