A review of the evidence of harm from self-tests.

Brown AN, Djimeu EW, Cameron DB. AIDS Behav. 2014;18(suppl 4):S445-S449.

This review explored the evidence on self-tests, such as those for HIV, breast examinations, sexually transmitted infections, and home pregnancy screenings to determine if they are linked to unintended consequences. The authors conclude that little data exists confirming that these tests result in psychological, social, or medical harm.
