The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) will host a 1-hour Web conference on October 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET on the use of the Agency’s teamwork training program, TeamSTEPPSR, and how to incorporate the patient safety approach in a setting with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients. Laura Maynard, the Director of Collaborative Learning at the North Carolina Quality Center will discuss the following objectives:
1. What we know about patient safety and LEP patients
2. Common causes of adverse events for LEP and culturally diverse patients
3. Key strategies for improving detection of medical errors and preventing high-risk scenarios from becoming safety events
4. Preventing safety events through the use of TeamSTEPPS tools
