The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is building upon the successful launch of its Someday is Today brand platform in asking the public to Declare It. Cancer Ends With Me as a strong call for consumer to engage with the voluntary health agency’s mission. Back in February, LLS launched a new campaign that included a unique public service announcement declaring that cancer cures are closer than before.
Now, the organization is upping the ante to show that that everyone has the ability to create a positive impact in the fight against blood cancers. LLS is turning toward traditional and extensive social outreach to create a groundswell of awareness for the mission.
“With Cancer Ends With Me, we’re making it personal,” says LLS Executive VP and CMO Lisa Stockmon. “We are creating a movement to show that we can all impact the fight to end blood cancers.”
The Declare It. site is mobile and tablet optimized. “Click the ‘Discover’ button and be inspired by compelling survivor story videos,” Stockmon told Med Ad News Daily. “Every person chooses how they would like to help: by donating, volunteering, and/or spreading the word. Make your own declaration on the site and share it on social media using #cancerendswithme.”
During its 64-year history, LLS has invested almost $1 billion in research to advance breakthrough treatments in its quest to make someday, today, for blood cancer patients. As there are no means of preventing or early screening for most blood cancers, LLS focuses on finding cures and improving the quality of life for patients and families.
“Thanks to research and better treatments, survival rates for many blood cancers have doubled, tripled, and even quadrupled since the1960s,” said LLS President & CEO, John Walter. “But, despite these advances, more than a third of blood cancer patients don’t survive five years after diagnosis. That’s why it’s vital for us to continue to generate awareness for our mission and raise funds to invest in cures and access to lifesaving therapies.”
Declare volunteers would only perform the tasks for which they signed up for. “This could be as simple as watching videos or receiving information on certain topics,” Stockmon told Med Ad News Daily. “It could also be more interactive and engaging, from participating in fundraising campaigns like Team In Training, Light The Night Walks and School & Youth Programs, to making a donation or volunteering. People can partake in our social media campaign by posting information on their accounts to spread word to their audience. However, once they Declare there are various ways they can spread the word at a more regional and direct level. This direction can be given upon request.”
