For many of us, especially those in the warmer states, spring is starting to arrive. With spring comes new flora, the associated pollen, and the resulting allergies. A more welcome arrival is theMay/June issue of the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice. Our Guest Editors, Paul Erwin and C. William Keck have developed this comprehensive issue on “The Academic Health Department.” A series of 17 articles illustrates the scope and importance of this modality throughout the nation. Most of the articles in this issue depict the advantages of the Academic Health Department in the education of public health students. In addition to providing these opportunities, the Academic Health Department can also be useful for the education of medical students and physicians-in-training in clinical and population-based preventive medicine.
