Public health emergency preparedness webinar. CDC’s Public Health Law Program (PHLP), the American Society of Law Medicine and Ethics, and the Network for Public Health Law are co-hosting a webinar, Public Health Emergency Law: Emergency Use of Property and Supplies, on Thursday, September 18, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm (EDT). The webinar provides an opportunity for public health lawyers, health practitioners, and other stakeholders to learn about the role of law in protecting property and supplies in a public health emergency. The webinar features an overview of the CDC developedPublic Health Emergency Law Competency Model, with a focus on Domain #2: The Protection of Property and Supplies.


Health system transformation webinars. PHLP and the American Health Lawyers Association are co-hosting a three-part series of webinar roundtable discussions that will provide lawyers, in-house counsel, and academics an overview of PHLP’s research on law and policy related to health system transformation, accountable care organizations, and hospital presumptive eligibility for Medicaid. The next webinar will take place Monday, September 22, 2014, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm (EDT). PHLP reserved 200 free registration spaces. Please register as soon as possible to ensure free registration.


New legal tools and resources web page. CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention recently published a new webpage related to public health laws. This webpage includes various legal tools and resources that can help public health practitioners understand the laws and regulations that might be facilitators or barriers to HIV, STD, and TB program effectiveness.
