The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) will host a free 1-hour webinar on October 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET on the use of the Agency’s teamwork training program, TeamSTEPPS®, and how to incorporate the patient safety approach in a setting with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients. Laura Maynard, the Director of Collaborative Learning at the North Carolina Quality Center will discuss the following objectives:
- What we know about patient safety and LEP patients
- Common causes of adverse events for LEP and culturally diverse patients
- Key strategies for improving detection of medical errors and preventing high-risk scenarios from becoming safety events
- Preventing safety events through the use of TeamSTEPPS tools
