The impact of surgical safety checklists on theatre departments: a critical review of the literature.

The evidence regarding the impact of checklists on safety in health care is mixed. Exploring theimprovements and challenges associated with checklists in the surgical environment, this review suggests that research focus on how to address the known barriers to checklist use to achieve progress in safety.
