CDRH Industry: Class II Special Controls Guideline: Nucleic Acid-Based In Vitro Diagnostic Devices for the Detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Complex and Genetic Mutations Associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis Complex Antibiotic Resistance in Respiratory Specimens - Guideline for Industry and FDA Staff

A guideline has been posted titled, "Class II Special Controls Guideline: Nucleic Acid-Based In Vitro Diagnostic Devices for the Detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Complex and Genetic Mutations Associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis Complex Antibiotic Resistance in Respiratory Specimens."  This document was developed to support the classification of nucleic acid-based in vitro diagnostic devices for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTB-complex) and the genetic mutations associated with MTB-complex antibiotic resistance in respiratory specimens into class II (special controls).  To view the guideline, please see: http://www.fda.gov/downloads/MedicalDevices/DeviceRegulationandGuidance/GuidanceDocuments/UCM419468.pdf
