First AHRQ Director’s Lecture Series Event October 27 To Feature Principal Investigator of PROMIS Statistical Center

David Cella, Ph.D., will be the featured speaker for the inaugural event of the AHRQ Director’s Lecture Series, scheduled for October 27 at 2 p.m. ET. Dr. Cella is professor and chair of the Department of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and director of the Center for Patient-Centered Outcomes at Feinberg’s Institute for Public Health and Medicine in Chicago. Most recently, he has led the National Institutes of Health’s Common Fund Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) as chair of its steering committee and principal investigator of the PROMIS Statistical Center. His talk at the Agency, also available via free web conference, is titled “PROMIS: Opportunities for Clinical and Population Research.” The Director’s Lecture Series is designed to bring together thought leaders for stimulating discussion on leading health care policy issues. Lecture topics will relate to AHRQ’s mission to produce evidence to make health care safer, higher quality, more accessible, equitable and affordable and to work within HHS and with other partners to make sure the evidence is understood and used. Speakers will help inform current priority areas and help identify new areas of growth for the Agency.
