Wolver SE, Stultz JS, Aggarwal A, Thacker L, Banas C. J Patient Saf. 2015 Jun 22; [Epub ahead of print].

This survey of patients and physicians found that many providers were unaware of the electronic health record's external medication history function, highlighting the need for improved EHR usability and training for physicians. Most patients did not feel the external medication history function would change their medication taking behavior. Engaging patients in their care might make health information technology more useful for them.
