CDC has released the U.S. Selected Practice Recommendations for Contraceptive Use, 2013 (US SPR).
- New clinical guidance document for health care providers
- Recommendations for common, yet sometimes complex, contraceptive management issues
- Adapted from global guidance provided by the World Health Organization (WHO)
Many of the US SPR recommendations have been adapted from WHO to be more specific to U.S. practices, and new topics of interest to U.S. providers have been added. These recommendations are meant to serve as a source of clinical guidance for health care providers; health care providers should always consider the individual clinical circumstances of each person seeking family planning services.Providers can learn more about the US SPR, and find job aids, training tools, and continuing education at: http://www.cdc.gov/reproductivehealth/UnintendedPregnancy/USSPR.htm
