A new way to get health insurance — coming October 1!
The Health Insurance Marketplace, an important part of the Affordable Care Act, is a platform to help you find health coverage that fits your budget with less hassle. HealthCare.gov, the official website for the Health Insurance Marketplace, re-launched this week. It now has more information about how the Marketplace will work, what choices you will have, and how to get ready.
The refreshed website also has specific information about how the Marketplace will be run in your state. No matter where you live, there will be resources available to help you:
  • Understand which programs you are eligible for, including Medicaid;
  • Explore options and identify coverage that meets your needs;
  • Apply for and enroll in coverage; and
  • Get financial assistance if you are eligible.
Learning about the Marketplace is especially valuable for women, who regularly manage care and make health care decisions for themselves, children, aging parents, and often spouses. The Marketplace can help you enroll in insurance plans that provide women with a full range of preventive services. The health care law also keeps insurers from charging women more, prevents discrimination against those with pre-existing conditions, and improves Medicare and Medicaid coverage for older women and low-income families.
It’s almost time! The Marketplace opens on October 1. Learn more now so you can begin to prepare for enrollment later this year. For more information, visit HealthCare.gov and chat online with customer service representatives, or call the new 24/7 helpline at 800-318-2596 for support in English and Spanish. The website and live chat are also available in Spanish at CuidadoDeSalud.gov
