Emergency Preparedness Requirements for Providers and Suppliers Final Rule

CMS Open Door Forum
Providers and suppliers affected by this rule must comply with and implement all regulations by November 2017.  Interpretive guidance for the final rule is anticipated for Spring 2017.  In the interim, CMS has posted FAQs on our survey and certification website based on questions received in response to the final rule.  These FAQs can be found at https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Provider-Enrollment-and-Certification/SurveyCertEmergPrep/Emergency-Prep-Rule.html.  Additional questions related to the final rule can be sent to SCGEmergencyPrep@cms.hhs.gov.
In addition, several helpful resources, technical assistance, and further information can be found on the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response’s Technical Resource, Assistance Center, & Information Exchange (ASPR TRACIE) website located at https://asprtracie.hhs.gov/cmsrule.  Lastly, on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, CMS hosted a National Provider Call that provided an overview of the final rule, discussed the enforcement process, and also provided details regarding available technical assistance and resources.  A recording of the call can be found on the MLN Connects® Event Registration page at go.cms.gov/NPC.
