Promoting Women’s Health
March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize women leaders who have
made lasting contributions to our nation. This year’s theme is “Women’s
Education – Women’s Empowerment.” We celebrate American women who have
changed the landscape of scientific health research, medicine, and public
health.
The Secretary recently visited Baltimore, MD, to talk to women who are the health decision-makers for their families. The new health care law, the Affordable Care Act, expands health coverage to 34 million Americans, gives women greater control over their healthcare, and covers preventive health care services with no cost sharing for new health plans.
HHS commits to making sure that every woman has the opportunity to achieve the highest level of health.
