2017 Consumer Food Safety Education Conference Early Bird Registration Rate Closes December 1
November 18, 2016
The early bird discount registration rate for the Consumer Food-Safety Education Conference (CFSEC) to be held January, 25 – 27, 2017, in Washington, DC will close Thursday, December 1. The conference is the sixth in a series designed to bring together stakeholders from government, industry and consumer groups with food safety educators to identify the most effective ways to educate consumers about what they can do to avoid foodborne illnesses. The 2017 Conference will focus on behavior change–the heart of improving food safety practices at home and at work. The event is expected to draw more than 400 professionals from a variety of backgrounds.
In addition to a plenary session featuring three prominent British and American writers on behavior change, the CFSEC Program Committee has announced that a second plenary session about how the public and private sectors can work together to support consumers in efforts to reduce the risk of foodborne illness will feature a panel of three Federal government leaders in food safety:
  • Stephen Ostroff, Deputy Commissioner for Food and Veterinary Medicine, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA),
  • Alfred V. Almanza, Deputy Under Secretary for Food Safety, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and,
  • Robert V. Tauxe, Deputy Director, Division of Foodborne, Waterborne and Environmental Diseases, Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
The Consumer Food-Safety Education Conferences are sponsored by the Partnership for Food Safety Education, and cosponsored by FDA, USDA and CDC. The Partnership is a non-profit organization that includes members from academia, the food industry, food-related professional organizations, consumer advocacy groups, and government agencies.
