Two new AHRQ Health Literacy Impact Case Studies

AHRQ’s Health Literacy Work Resonates in New Zealand and Australia

AHRQ has released two new impact case studies describing the international influence of AHRQ’s health literacy work.

The first case study describes how New Zealand's Ministry of Health used the Ten Attributes of Health Literate Health Care Organizations to guide its health literacy framework, which serves as the country’s vision for building a more health-literate society. The Ministry of Health also used AHRQ’s Health Literacy Universal Precautions Toolkit to develop the structure of a review process to evaluate how each part of a health service and organization contributes to building health literacy.

The second case study describes how Australia’s State of Tasmania’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) used elements of AHRQ’s Health Literacy Universal Precautions Toolkit in its Communication and Health Literacy Workplace Toolkit. The toolki helps almost 20,000 providers and 4,000 community service workers learn about and implement health literacy strategies.
