Psychological responses, coping and supporting needs of healthcare professionals as second victims.

Health care workers who experience distress following adverse events are considered second victims. This systematic review examined second victims' outcomes and support needs and found that experiencing a severe or unexpected adverse event led to long-term psychological impact. Most second victims expressed a need for emotional and informational support.
